The Grigri 2 insurance helmet
Developed by Petzl, Grigri 2 is a belay device with assisted braking designed to facilitate belay maneuvers. This belay device can be used on all dynamic single ropes on the market from 8.9 to 11 mm. Compact and lightweight, it offers excellent control of the descent thanks to its design. The Grigri 2 belay device is ideal for sport climbing and will accompany you on cliffs around the world. Available in 3 colors: Orange, grey and blue.
Detailed headset features
- Materials: Aluminium flanges, stainless steel brake shoe and cam, reinforced nylon handle
- Certifications: prEN 15151, UIAA
- For use on single strings from 8.9 to 11 mm in diameter (optimized for strings from 9.4 to 10.3 mm).
- Gesture identical to a classic belay system: the belay is done with both hands on the rope. The fall is stopped by gripping the free end with the hand.
- Assisted braking: when the fall is stopped, the belayer holds the free rope, the cam turns and pinches the rope, thus increasing braking until the rope stops.
- The Grigri 2 benefits from a new design allowing excellent control of the descent. One hand holds the rope and the other hand unlocks the cam, thanks to the handle. This handle, with its patented architecture, allows a very progressive release. Combined with the strong braking of the cam, it gives a great sense of safety when descending with a partner or abseiling.
- The construction with a brake pad and a stainless steel cam ensures a long life.
