Gaff and hooks
Having a good boat hook on board is an important safety factor, especially on boats with a large freeboard. Indeed, it reduces the risk of falling into the water when you want to retrieve an object in the water or when you have to catch a chest or a mooring. It can also be used to "overtake", i.e. move the boat away from a dock, a pontoon or another boat
