Neoprene Shorts
Neoprene is the ideal material for all water sports activities in temperate waters. Suitable for all sizes and shapes, there are several types of fabric ranging from one to three layers depending on the type of practice and the season. It is important to know that a softer fabric allows more freedom of movement but provides less protection against the cold than a thicker fabric. The advantage of neoprene is mainly its affordable price and its performance. Neoprene shorts are not waterproof: they are in fact a thermal insulation garment that lets water in and it is this thin layer of water between the skin and the fabric that maintains the body temperature.
Neoprene shorts have a thickness of between 0.5 and 3 mm, which effectively protects the lower body against the cold of the water and air. When choosing the size, it is important that the shorts are well fitted to limit water ingress, especially as they will relax when wet.
